Louise Jones DuBose
Journalist, editor, and teacher, Louise Jones DuBose (1901-1985) was also a poet, playwright, biographer, and folklorist. She served as assistant state supervisor of the WPA's South Carolina Writers' Project (1935-1941), associate editor of South Carolina Magazine, and the second director of the University of South Carolina Press (1950-1966). Wind-Star, a book of poetry issued under her pseudonym, "Nancy Telfair," was brought out by Columbia's legendary Bostick and Thornley Publishers in 1943.
