Ellen E. Hyatt, after years of enjoying (mostly) teaching, says she's a “recovering academic." In addition to serving the Board of SCAA out of respect for its educational mission, Hyatt values situations inviting creativity and being still in quiet, uninterrupted conversation. She writes (poetry; nonfiction) for academic, literary, and mainstream audiences. Places whose wings have helped her works take flight are the University of South Carolina Press; 96 Press of Greenville; Western Pennsylvania Writing Project (University of Pittsburgh); Cincinnati Landing of Always a River; Hub City Press (Spartanburg); Azalea Magazine; People, Places, and Quilts; the Poetry Society of SC.
