Beatrice Witte Ravenel
Ravenel (1870-1956) was a gifted poet whose work appeared in the leading poetry magazines of the 1910s and 1920s. A founder of The Poetry Society of South Carolina, her volume The Arrow of Lightning (1925) was widely praised for its evocation of the Lowcountry. According to Louis D. Rubin, Jr.—another SC Academy of Authors inductee—her poems are "worthy of lasting attention."
